Well I wasn't going to get all crazy on the guests with my China-free thing, so I can't say it was 100% China-free. But we did pretty well for the stuff Brett and I picked out for him.
Football peg game - USA
Crane & assorted wooden toys - PLAN toys, Thailand
Books - USA, Canada
CD - USA
Metal build it yourself toy - totally, 100% MIC evil... but we bought it in August.
I'm finding we have so little to post on, on our China-free year blog... because, um, well.... we're so poor right now, we're not doing a whole lot of buying ANY consumer goods! Gee, it's really suprisingly easy to avoid buying MIC stuff when you're not buying ANYTHING. Uh uh, where was our furnace made.... we just had to install a new one. Sigh.

Ok folks...
Clearly y'all haven't been doing your job. Of converting all your friends and neighbours to the ways of the China-free. :-)

Dust-buster as dinosaur and other imaginative toys

What makes me laugh is the last line....
um, no, it probably doesn't... but there's OTHER evil stuff in there! Let's not go there. :-)

Low-tech toys you have SO much fun with.....

My elder son got WAY excited about this site today. And I keep thinking about the fun memories I had as a kid.... almost all of the ones that popped to mind involved playing imaginary games or stuff with like, sticks. I certainly remember fighting over the Lite Brite and learning how to value appearances by grooming my Barbies (ha!) but the real FUN was always low-tech.
Make something, right now! go go go!
